This image was taken after the initial work on the DEC gear assembly and rough collimation adjustments. Since then, Jerry Brunache has readjusted the secondary mirror to optimal distance giving the telescope 2 more inches of focus travel and the primary mirror has been cleaned. Another image will be taken in order to evaluate the perfomance regarding the deformed stars.

At the end of the 70's Jerry ground the mirrors for this telescope. He is seen examining the f/8 secondary mirror assembly prior to readjustment. Later in the evening, Jerry had his very first look through the telescope after all these years.

Jerry doing a rough check of the optical alignment. Amazing that the only piece of equipment he used when doing the later star checks, was a single edged razor blade.

Using the single edged razor blade, Jerry felt that after adjusting the secondary mirror, the optical performance seemed to be improved and 2 inches more backfocus was obtained.
