Sunday October 6 2013 another session with comet C/2012 S1 (ISON). This time from San Diego using a Meade 10 inch LX200
Classic SCT. ST8-XME with AO-8 guiding. Very tough to get a good image. ISON just cleared the roof of the neighbor's house. It was in the atmospheric soup and at morning twilight so the sky was pretty bright. Sky was so bad even Mars had a twinkle. This image is processed in PhotoShop to combine the color with the Luminance frames. 6x3 minutes luminance bin 1x1 - 1x3 minutes each RGB bin 2x2 |
Magnitude 10.0 according to the info displayed by 'TheSky v6.0.0.65'

Comet ISON now Extinct:
After close slingshot around the sun on Nov. 28. Initial hopes that some of the comet survived
the solar passage did not last as it soon became clear the comet was destroyed by
the sun encounter. Extremely disappointing after following it to the Sun
